When They Come to Carry Me

When They Come to Carry Me

I am the silence in the storm,
An aged soul that kept you warm.
Broke chains that once held my name—
The echoes of pain now lost in flame.

No anger now, no pride, no shame,
Just truths I’ve gathered, deeply framed.
I’ve walked roads where light has shone,
And turned from pits I once called home.

No old roles left, no guilt to bear,
With quiet resolve, I choose my prayer.
With cheerful heart, I plant and sow
A tree of light for all to know.

Each verse I wrote, each move I made,
Came from my soul—not for the sake
Of hollow praise or fleeting fame,
But for the peace that truth became.

And when they come to carry me,
There’ll be no regrets inside of me.
For I lived a life that’s deeply true—
With heart, with fire, and a sky of blue.

So lay me down in peaceful rest—
I gave my all, I passed the test.
The boy I was, the man I’ve been—
Was good enough for the life within.
